International Museum Day, promoted by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) since 1977 with the purpose of raising awareness of the importance of these spaces for cultural exchange and enrichment.

This year, the celebration is framed around the theme "museums, sustainability and wellbeing", emphasizing the fundamental contribution that museums make to the wellbeing and sustainable development of communities.

In this sense, as an articulating instance of dissemination and disclosure, the MAPA Network takes the opportunity to ratify its commitment to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, from supporting climate action and promoting inclusion, to the fight against social isolation and the improvement of mental health.

For this reason, since its creation in 2022, the joint work approach aims to contribute significantly to the shaping and creation of sustainable futures, through educational programs

Achieving well-being and sustainability is a challenge of great dimensions and the MAPA Network is aware of this. However, it has the knowledge, the experience and all the passion for architecture - as a cultural fact that reflects the conditions and circumstances of the moment and the environment - to continue advancing in the involvement of citizens and to realize all the transformative potential that museums have in social development.
