25 Mar First CIVISS 2024 Congress
The First Ibero-American Congress on Sustainable Social Housing (CIVISS) was held at the Faculty of Architecture of the National Autonomous University of Mexico from March 19 to 21.
This first edition was organized by teams from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Faculty of Architecture) and the Polytechnic University of Madrid (ETSAM). It was an initiative of great interest for students, professors and researchers.
The thematic lines proposed were as follows:
- Social housing in historic centers
- Social housing in consolidated areas and peripheries
- Transformation and regeneration of informal tissues
- Social housing in historic buildings for non-residential use (offices, industry...).
- Transformation of historical models, forms, types and concepts
- Processes of appropriation and transformation of 20th century social housing buildings, complexes, complexes and neighborhoods.
- Relationship between architectural practices, land policies and regulatory frameworks
Under the theme 'Rethinking the House, Transforming the City', researchers from 12 countries presented, analyzed and discussed the history of social housing and contemporary challenges.
