The XVI International Biennial of Architecture of Costa Rica aims to seek answers to what has been experienced in recent years and to serve as an incentive to generate new proposals. For the next 2022, the theme chosen for the XVI International Biennial is: "Architecture + Resilience = emerging opportunities". For each edition of the biennial, the College of Architects of Costa Rica chooses a theme that links architecture with the quality of life of citizens, responding to the needs of the environment. The last XV International Biennial of Architecture whose theme was "Architecture - Water - Life" has shown a high level of participation, both from students and invited professionals.
